Dietetics

Mildura Base Hospital has a sole Dietitian position. The Dietitian works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within the hospital. There is both an inpatient and outpatient service provided. The position covers all wards on the hospital, including general medical/surgical, rehabilitation unit, paediatrics, intensive care and a renal dialysis unit. The Dietitian liaises closely with the food services department to provide for any special dietary requirements for inpatients.

Outpatient work is mainly individual appointments either referred from the community or as follow-up after discharge from hospital. There is a home enteral nutrition program which is managed by the Dietitian with a number of clients in the community. Involvement in several groups including cardiac and pulmonary rehab groups is another part of this varied and challenging position.
