Hydrotherapy

Description of Service

Hydrotherapy is the use of water in the treatment of conditions like:

  • Unloading of joints and structures through the buoyancy of water
  • Accelerated rehabilitation and return to sport by exercising to maintain muscle strength and joint range of movement
  • Reduce post surgical rehabilitation time by strength building prior to surgery without risk of further injury

Target population

The following conditions apply:

  • Tailored towards adults only
  • Physical assessment or screening  by a health practitioner
  • Infection control guidelines are to be followed
  • Therapeutic use only, not for recreational use
  • Programs are person centred, tailored to individual healthcare goals, which are to be achievable in a set timeframe

Approximate waiting time

Within five working days of us receiving the referral a member of the team will contact the client to acknowledge receipt of referral.

The waiting list for fracture clinic appointments is actively managed to ensure patients are treated equitably within clinically appropriate timeframes and with priority given to patients with an urgent clinical need.
